ARCHÉOL. Monument aztèque en forme de pyramide tronquée, à quatre côtés, supportant à son sommet un temple et un autel. Son temple [d'Angkor] à chaussée au milieu des marais rappelle par sa situation les téocallis de Mexico, par son plan l'Escurial, et par son style les pagodes hindoues (AMIEL, Journal, 1866, p. 66).
